Roadmap
Where this goes next.
The first phase is built and you can use it today. Everything after it is a direction, not a commitment: the order and the contents will change as real employers use the Builder and tell us what they actually need.
Tentative on purpose. Nothing past Phase 1 is fixed.
-
Now Built
A working prototype
Enough of the product to see the whole idea working, end to end.
- The 14-step lifecycle, navigable
- Steps 1, 3 and 10 wired end to end
- Answers become a Program Purpose, a Job Description and a Learning & Development Plan
- Edit, regenerate or approve every generated output
- Operating Manual and Intern Work Plan assembling live as you answer
- Change an earlier answer and downstream work is flagged, never rewritten
- A dependency map generated from the system itself
-
Phase 2 Next
The rest of Build It
The remaining eleven steps, built the same way from the same blueprint.
- Steps 2 and 4 through 9
- Steps 11 through 14
- The implementation tools: interview guide, pre-arrival checklist, day one agenda, evaluations
- The readiness check before an intern arrives
-
Phase 3 Next
You control the content
An admin area so the methodology is yours to change without a developer.
- Edit every question, its options and its help text
- Edit the Learn content on each step
- Edit the output templates and what the writing assistant is asked for
- Decide what goes into the Manual and the Work Plan, and in what order
- Versioned and reversible, so a change mid-build cannot surprise an employer
-
Phase 4 Then
Real accounts
Organizations, sign-in, and more than one program each.
- Organization accounts and sign-in
- More than one internship program per organization
- Duplicate a program for the next cycle, or adapt it for another department
-
Phase 5 Evidence
Pilot with real employers
A small paying group, across a full semester. This is what decides everything after it.
- Three to five small and midsize employers
- A nominal fee, because paid feedback is honest feedback
- Watch where they stall, how much they edit, what they never open
- Case studies and data worth sharing
-
Phase 6 Later
Decided by what the pilot shows
Deliberately unbuilt until employers tell us which of these actually matters.
- Branded PDF and Word export
- Implement It: the plans and tools served back at the right moment
- Partner licensing for chambers, colleges and workforce organizations
-
Beyond Horizon
The rest of the journey
Real destinations, but nothing to design yet.
- Reflect On It: keep, change, focus
- Scale It: more interns, more departments, cohorts
- Integrations, benchmarking, and program analytics
Deliberately not building
What this will never try to be.
The Builder works alongside the systems an organization already has, rather than replacing them. Keeping this list short is what keeps the product usable.
- An applicant tracking system
- A replacement for Handshake
- A project management platform
- An HRIS or a payroll system
- A learning management system
- A legal advice service
